CDC Claims That Vaccines Are Safe For Expectant Mothers

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) claims that the COVID-19 vaccine does not increase the risk of miscarriage and birth defects among pregnant women (via CNBC). According to the report, the CDC “tracked 1,613 pregnant women” who received the COVI-19 vaccine during various stages of their pregnancies. The women in the study eventually “gave birth to 1,634 infants, including 42 twins.”

“We reviewed the currently available registry data and found no evidence of an increase in spontaneous abortion rates, and no evidence of any disproportionate negative infant birth outcomes,” CDC medical officer Dr. Christine Olson told their Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

The breakdown of the participants is as follows: “The 1,613 participants were part of the CDC’s v-safe pregnancy registry, which had 5,096 enrollees as of Sept. 13. The CDC reported that 79.4% of the registry’s enrollees were white, 8.4% were Asian, 8.1% were Hispanic and 1.4% were Black. Approximately 65% were between the ages of 25 and 34, while 33% were 35 to 44 years old.”

Of the 1,634 babies who were born, there were no fatalities, but “99 were preterm, 45 were considered small for their gestational age and 158 required intensive care.” Dr. Olson also factored in the normal “12.8% risk of miscarriage by the 20th week of gestation.” 45 of the babies were born with birth defects, but Olson found “no uncommon types or clusters of birth defects.”

HealthPartners Institute’s Dr. Elyse Kharbanda found that COVID-19 vaccinations don’t increase stillbirths either, reporting that of the 11,300 live births during December 2020 to July 2021, the 26 stillbirths that were recorded were due to “placental complications, obstetric complications and maternal comorbidities.”

“No concerning patterns were identified related to the timing of vaccine exposures or stillbirth etiology,” Kharbanda explained. The report also revealed that that those who are pregnant “face a higher risk of harsher Covid cases” and “chances of premature birth” as well.

Long story short, please get vaccinated for your sake and the sake of your child.
