DIY: Black and White Cactus Garland

Craft not your thing? Me neither. But styling a rad kid’s room for less is! So I put my DIY-doubting to the side this week and tried my hand at this cute little cactus garland. And guess what? It’s easy-as and looks awesome! What are you waiting for?

Supplies

  • black cardboard
  • white cardboard
  • black permanent marker
  • white permanent marker
  • twine
  • scissors or cutting machine – I used a Brother ScanNcut

Instructions

Step 1: Using the cactus shape here, trace onto the white cardboard four times. Do the same onto the black cardboard.

Step 2: Cut the shape out of the black and white cardboard.

Step 3: Using the white marker, draw little vertical lines on both sides of the black cactus cardboard to represent the spines. Do the same on the white cardboard using the black marker.

Step 4: Using the hole puncher (mine was 8mm), punch holes into the top of each cactus and thread the string through. Ensure each cactus stays in place by tying a knot.

And that’s it! I’ve strung mine up over the bed, and my mum is using hers to hide scratched bits of paint on her walls. Can’t wait to hear how you use yours.

Let me know!
