Gender Reveal: DIY Color Blocked Cookies for a Baby Shower

Bring the color-blocking trend to your dessert with this colorful idea, perfect for baby showers, weddings, birthday parties, and more. All you need is a little bit of chocolate and some store-bought cookies or scones. Of course, you can make your own as well, if you have a favorite recipe. Keep reading to find out how to make your own color-blocked cookies for gender reveal!

Supplies:

  • white chocolate candy melts
  • gel food coloring
  • spoon
  • cooling grid
  • scones or cookies (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions:

Step 1: Start by melting the chocolate, according to the instructions on the packaging. I melted mine in the microwave on 50% power and in 30 second intervals until melted, stirring between each interval.

Step 2: Add food coloring and stir until fully incorporated. I used blue gel food coloring and created a lighter blue for this first round so I could darken it up for the second color-block layer.

Step 3: Dip each cookie or scone into the melted chocolate and place on a cooling grid to harden.

Step 4: Once the chocolate on the dipped cookies has hardened completely, mix in additional food coloring to darken up what is left of the melted chocolate and dip the cookies a second time for a monochromatic color-blocked look.

Step 5: Place the cookies back on the cooling grid until the chocolate has hardened and they’re ready to eat.
