The Easiest New Year’s Eve DIY Cake Topper

After Christmas is over, I always feel a little tuckered out in the DIY department. But there’s still one more holiday to celebrate after the 25th: New Year’s Eve.

So, to make things as easy as possible, I came up with this super simple New Year’s DIY cake topper that you can complete with your kids in five minutes flat. How’s that for easy?

All you need are some craft pipe cleaners and a pair of scissors to create a festive cake topper perfect for ringing in the new year.

Supplies:

  • Craft pipe cleaners
  • Scissors

Instructions:

Step 1: To create a fireworks star, cut one pipe cleaner into four equal pieces.

Step 2: Twist all four pieces together, in the middle.

Step 3: Then fan out each piece equally from the next to create the firework shape.

Step 4: To create the starburst shape, take one pipe cleaner, measure 2 to 3 inches, and pinch together, creating a curve on each side (as shown in the photo).

Step 5: Next, create the other two points the same way, and connect the two end pieces together to complete the shape.

Step 6: To create the traditional star shape, bend pipe cleaner the same way you did for the starburst shape, just create an extra point and skip the curves. Easy as pie.

Hope you’ll give these festive star cake toppers a try for the holidays.
