DIY: Spooky Styrofoam Spiders for Halloween

My son loves anything spooky. So, I thought it would be fun to make some easy creepy crawlers with red eerie eyes that are sure to give him the scare he craves. You can hang ’em, put them on your mantel, or even trick your treaters and place them on your front door. Keep reading to get the tutorial for how to make these Styrofoam spiders for Halloween!

Supplies:

  • 2 different sizes of Styrofoam balls (2” and 2.4”)
  • Black paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Skewers
  • Small box
  • Plate
  • Red sticker gems
  • Hot glue gun and glue
  • Black pipe cleaners
  • Scissors

Instructions:

Step 1: With your scissors, punch holes into your box. Stick the skewers into the Styrofoam balls and then stick the skewers into the holes in the box. This is where you’re going to keep the balls so they can dry after you paint them.

Step 2: Paint your Styrofoam balls black. Use the paper plate as a paint palette.

Step 3: Hot glue one of the small Styrofoam balls to the bigger ball.

Step 4: Cut your pipe cleaners into thirds.

Step 5: Stick three into each side of the body. Shape the pipe cleaners to make them look like legs.

Step 6: Place the red gem stickers onto the spider’s head to make them look like creepy eyes.
