DIY Captain Underpants & Friends Magnets

Now that my 8-year-old son is all about Captain Underpants books, he can’t get enough of the world of comics. He pretends to be the superhero who sports a red cape and white underpants, and the ordinary toilet paper in my powder room has transformed into “Toilet Paper of Justice.” To say he is excited about the Captain Underpants, The First Epic Movie, coming out June 2, is an understatement. You can bet he will be at premiere, probably wearing a red cape and white underwear, too (only the underwear will be under his pants where they belong!).

One way we’re channeling all that Captain Underpants energy until the movie’s premiere is by organizing his desk with Captain Underpants magnets. Now he can hang his photos, drawings, school work, and to do lists with George, Harold, Mr. Krupp, and other characters from Captain Underpants, The First Epic Movie.

Ready to craft? Let’s make some magnets.

Step 4: Remove the sticker from the foam adhesive on the magnet, and place the image on the sticky part of the foam.

Step 5: Apply the mod podge onto the image. Start around the edges. Yes, you can “nudge” the magic into all the corners so every part of the image is covered. It should not leak over the side. Continue to add the dimensional magic until the entire image is covered. Once it’s covered, and you think you’re done, add a little more in the middle. The reason for this is because it creates a bubble over the image, which will look better when it dries. Wait at least 3 to 5 hours for the magic to dry.

Step 6: Once the magnets are dry, they’re ready to hang and enjoy!
