DIY All-In-One Laundry Bombs That Actually Work

DIY natural laundry pods

As a mom of three boys, my life pretty much revolves around laundry. IT. NEVER. STOPS.I need a detergent that cleans clothes, cuts through tough stains, works well on both whites and colors, eliminates odors, and isn’t full of nasty chemicals. It’s also nice if I can find an affordable option, since I use so much detergent. Sounds impossible, doesn’t it? After searching high and low for a low cost all-in-one option that fits the bill and finding nothing, I decided to make my own DIY laundry bombs. They were easy to make, are much more affordable than store-bought laundry pod options, and work just as well! Here’s how to make your own DIY laundry bombs at home

Instructions:

  1. Cut soap bar into smaller pieces using a sharp knife and then chop up in your food processor. If you don’t have one, you can grate by hand but this method is much more tedious. Chop entire bar.
  2. Combine 1 cup of Washing soda, 1/4 cup baking soda, 1/4 cup salt or epsom salt, and the chopped bar of soap in a mixing bowl and stir.
  3. Add 15-20 drops of choice of essential oil to add natural fragrance.
  4. Add white vinegar 1/4 of a cup at a time and stir until mixture is clumpy but moist enough to stick together.
  5. Spoon mixture into ice cube trays (this recipe should make approximately two full trays)
  6. Put ice trays into freezer for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Remove from freezer and remove pods from tray with a butter knife.
  8. Put into air tight container and use as needed.
