DIY: Freezer Stenciled Placemats

I love graphic placemats and these handmade versions are a great way to teach kids how to set a table setting too! Keep reading to see how to make them.

Supplies:

  • Heavy upholstery fabric (mine is from Ikea)
  • Print out of utensil shapes
  • Scissors
  • Exacto Knife
  • Fabric Paint
  • Freezer Paper

Print out utensil and plate shapes.

Tape onto freezer stencil and cut out with exacto knife.

Keep the stencil piece and toss out the inside shape.

Cut out and hem your placemats.

Iron the shapes onto your fabric. Place a piece of cardboard between the ironing board and the fabric to protect it from the paint.

Place and iron them carefully. You can’t move them afterwards!

Apply at least two coats of paint. Let dry and then peel off the paper.

Show your chlid the fun new way to set the table!

Enjoy your pretty, and functional new placemats!
