A Quick and Easy Updo for Busy Fall Mornings

School is back in session, which means my mornings are spent making breakfast, packing lunches, running around looking for one or more shoes, and trying to get myself together before I walk the kids to school. And by getting myself together, I mean brushing my teeth and finding my keys. I don’t have time for much else, so I do what I can to take my jeans-and-tee look up a notch occasionally with an easy updo.

This easy updo only adds a minute or two to my normal routine. It can be worn smooth and polished (I blew my hair straight before I started) or you can opt for a messier updo style if you have some natural texture to your hair and want to rock it.  For this easy updo, just start with clean(ish), dry hair.

Trying to resist the urge to roll out of bed, shove a beanie on your head and call it a day this fall? This easy updo makes it easy to escape that dreaded static-y matted mess associated with hat hair and it leaves you feeling prepared to see others out in public!

Step One: Separate two sections from around your face. Secure with a clip or bobby pin to keep it away from the rest of your hair.

Step Two: Tease hair lightly at the crown for a bit of volume, then pull remaining hair into a ponytail.

Step Three: Twist ponytail into a bun and secure with two or three bobby pins. You’ll be adding more soon so don’t worry about getting it blustery-day resistant just yet.

Step Four: Take one of your front sections, split in half and tie in a single knot past your ear.

Step Five: Wrap the two ends of that section around your bun and secure with bobby pins. Repeat on other side.

Step Seven: Pull a few pieces out around your face or along your hairline for a wispy look and you’re all set.

Voilà! Your quick and easy updo for busy fall mornings is complete!
