Will Smith has been making headlines over the past year for his performance in King Richard. This week, he’s making them for having a Whitney Houston dance party with his momma for her birthday. Caroline Bright, his momma, received quite the serenade in a video posted by Smith to his Instagram account.
Over the weekend, mom and son celebrated Bright’s 85th birthday.

Within the loving video, Smith (53) dances with his mom and sings one of Whitney Houston’s most iconic songs, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” At one point, he looks directly into his momma’s eyes and serenades the lyric, “With somebody who loves me.”

Captioned with the video, Smith writes, “85 Today! Happy Bday, Mom-Mom. Let’s dance our way to 100.” Absolutely all of the playful love between them can certainly be felt, and all of Smith’s commenters seem to agree — fans, family, and fellow celebrities, alike.
Sheree Zampino, mother to Smith’s eldest son, Trey, chimed in a “Happy Birthday Mom Mom! I love you!!!!” while Jamie Foxx gave a simple, “Happy birthday mom.” Even one of Smith’s oldest friends, DJ Jazzy Jeff, seems to have crossed paths with the infamous mom at some point, as he offered his many happy returns, as well.
Smith loves celebrating his mom on Instagram. Last Mother’s Day, he posted a lovely photo of him and his mom embracing in a touching tribute to the matriarch.
“Happy Mommy’s Day, Mommy! And Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mothers of the world,” he wrote in the post’s caption. “Oh… and Mom, I’m sorry about that time when I was a senior in high school and you caught me in the kitchen with my girlfriend. But, really you should’ve been asleep.”
No doubt, countless mothers out there were able to relate.
