5-Ingredient Eggless Chocolate Mousse Recipe

All the chocolate lovers, gather around! We have a creamy and melt-in-the-mouth chocolate recipe for you – an eggless mousse. You will love this no-bake, light, pillowy, and indulgently chocolaty recipe. It requires only five ingredients and will come together in the blink of an eye.

And mamas, you will also love making this decadently creamy recipe for your kids. It is an eggless recipe, so you can make these for your little ones without worrying about their egg allergies. No gelatine or cocoa powder is included—just pure chocolate for that uber-strong flavor.

However, a few things to consider while making this eggless chocolate mousse recipe. To begin with, use quality chocolate, as it affects the flavor quite a lot for this recipe. If you don’t have chocolate chips, you can use a semi-sweet/dark chocolate block and chop it into small pieces for melting.

Also, if you don’t like coffee in chocolates, you can skip the step. However, brewed coffee makes the chocolaty flavor more intense, so we highly recommend it. You need around three tablespoons of coffee, so save some from your morning brew or use instant coffee powder mixed in hot water. Lastly, use whipping cream with more than 35% fat for stiff peaks.

The best part about this eggless chocolate mousse recipe is that you can make it before a big party or family gathering and serve it chilled when needed. Moreover, you can use it for topping or frosting your chocolate cake.

The mousse can be stored in the refrigerator for about 4-5 days. Just make sure to cover every bowl/glass with a plastic wrap so it stays fresh for longer. Also, let the mousse sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before serving for a smoother consistency.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chocolate chips, semi-sweet or dark (as per your preference)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 ½ tablespoons brewed coffee
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, chilled
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Preparation

  1. To make the eggless chocolate mousse, put chocolate chips, butter, and brewed coffee in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Heat it for 30 seconds. Mix until everything is well combined and melted, and it should look smooth and shiny. Let it cool down to room temperature.
  3. Add chilled heavy whipping cream and vanilla in a bowl. Start whipping it using a hand or stand mixer with a whisk attachment (chill the bowl and attachments for 15-20 minutes).
  4. Whip the cream until you get stiff peaks. Do not over-mix it; otherwise, the cream will curdle and turn into butter.
  5. Save around ¼ cup of whipped cream in a small bowl for garnishing. Keep it in the refrigerator.
  6. Add the remaining whipped cream to the melted chocolate in small batches and gently fold in using a spatula. Don’t mix it vigorously; do it slowly and gently to make it light and airy. Don’t rush this process. Adding whipped cream in small batches will give excellent results.
  7. Divide the eggless chocolate mousse into individual serving bowls/glasses.
  8. Cover the serving bowl/glasses with plastic wrap and keep it in the refrigerator to set for about 2 hours or more.
  9. Lastly, when serving, garnish the eggless chocolate mousse with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cocoa powder.

Your eggless chocolate mousse is ready to be devoured! Your kids will love its texture and certainly ask for a second serving. So, get the ingredients and make them today for your loved ones. Moreover, you can also serve this sweet treat to your family on Valentine’s Day.
