Groupon Survey Reveals How Done Parents Are With Summer Vacation (Already)

A recent Groupon survey shows that most parents are done with summer after an average of 13 days. The survey was conducted by OnePoll and commissioned by Groupon and asked 2,000 parents what they had planned for summer and the answers they got were probably not shocking to anyone stuck home with kids in this crazy heat.

A whopping 58% of respondents said they were ready for school to start back up by day 13 of summer vacation and 75% said they were definitely ready to send their kids back to school by the end of summer. More than half of the parents who responded said that the number one stressor was trying to keep their kids busy.

Six Thoughts You’ll Have During Your First Summer With A Toddler

“Parents love spending time with their kids, but it’s totally normal to experience some stress and anxiety when planning all the fun that you’re going to have together this summer,” said Groupon’s Head of Things to Do, Brian Fields. “The parents we interviewed said they’ve found the most success by not overthinking the situation and turning to affordable activities in their local community.”

He’s not wrong, trying to find things to keep kids active and happy is no small feat. Even actress Tiffany Haddish knows this, as she joked in a Groupon radio ad about kids being bored during summer. “It’s summertime and you gotta find your kids something to do. Because an energetic kid with too much free time can land you in small claims court.”

Summer vacation when I was a kid looked a lot like me and my friends roaming around the neighborhood on our Huffy bikes and not going home until the streetlights came on. That was during the 80s when things were totally different. These days, I’m a stay-at-home-mom of three kids all under the age of 10 and summer looks dramatically different. I chase them from activity to activity and then feel stressed out and exhausted by the constant whining and cries of boredom. In short, I was ready for school to start back roughly two weeks into summer vacation.

11 Summer Activities You’ll Regret Doing For Sure

Thankfully, Groupon suggests lots of great activities for kids and families ranging from amusement and water parks to zoos, bowling, and the movies. They even offer a summer bucket list of Groupon deals for parents to take advantage of, which can be found here.

Don’t worry, moms and dads, we’re halfway to the summer vacation finish line.
