12 Years After ‘I Do,’ I Still Lust After My Husband

Obviously I’m a biased — I thought he was sexy when I met him 17 years ago. After 12 years of marriage and two kids, I still find him sexy. Yes, I still lust after my husband.

We might not have sex as often as the early years of our marriage, but there are times I just want to throw him on the bed and have my way with him. Except I won’t because the kids aren’t in bed yet.

While some folks my eschew the domesticity that comes with living with your soulmate for many years, I love the comforts of marriage. I have almost never sleep alone. My husband grabs things from the top shelf for me. We snuggle in bed to catch up on our favorite television shows. He’s my guinea pig when for my new recipes. He’s my shoulder to cry on when I’m not having a good day.

You might think that everyday routines of household chores and raising a family can be detrimental to a couple’s sex life, but it’s the opposite according to Psychology Today:

John Gottman, the longstanding dean of couples research and head of Seattle’s Gottman Institute, contends that the path to sexual engagement runs directly through the willingness of partners to share in the running of their lives. Significantly, Gottman discovered that men who do housework have more sex than men who don’t.

I definitely find my husband sexier when he does housework. Being sexy isnt just dependent physical attributes but the sum of his personality and his actions.

Another reason why I still lust after my husband is that the sex gets better and better. It’s like the saying, practice makes perfect. The more often we become intimate, the better we learn each other’s likes and dislikes.  While not every instance is a multiorgasmic, gasping for air experience, I have no complaints.

Do you still lust after your husband?
