Carrie Underwood Donates One Million Dollars To Help Oklahoma Tornado Victims; Other Celebrities Follow Suit

Celebrities like Carrie Underwood, David Spade, Blake Shelton and more are digging deep into their pockets to help the Oklahoma tornado victims.

Carrie Underwood is among the latest celebrities who have made large donations to help the families affected by the devastating tornadoes in Oklahoma.  Carrie donated $1 million dollars to the Red Cross.

The singer shared, “I have watched the devastation in my home state of Oklahoma over the past several days with great sadness. With the help of my fans who attended my concerts over the past year, we can offer the Red Cross a little extra help in comforting those affected by the recent tornadoes.”

Also pledging big money to the cause: Oklahoma City Thunder star forward Kevin Durant and his team donated $1 million.  Rules of Engagement star David Spade donated $200,000.  The Voice coach Blake Shelton is working with NBC on a benefit concert which will air on May 29th.

Comedian Ricky Gervais urged his Twitter followers not to just pray for Oklahoma, but to send money and make a difference. He received some backlash for his blunt comments, but he stood by them, sharing “Praying for something but not doing anything to make it happen has the same effect as writing to Santa & not letting mummy read the letter.”
