These fun Meringue Ghosts are the perfect Halloween recipe to help you celebrate with kids. They are so easy to make and a blast to decorate. I usually just make eyes out of mini chocolate chips, but my daughter loves to sprinkle them with sanding sugar! These would be ideal for a children's Halloween party or just a nibble around the house when you are in the mood for something sweet. Try this holiday recipe this year.
A perfect Halloween recipe, make these adorable meringue ghosts.
- granulated sugar: ¾ cup
- lukewarm water: ¾ cup
- powdered egg whites: ¼ cup
- mini chocolate chips or candy eyes (for decoration): 72
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl add ¼ cup of sugar, water, egg white powder and whisk until smooth. Then, whisk the mixture on high speed, gradually adding the rest of the sugar as you go, until the mixture holds stiff peeks.
Step 3:< Prepare a pastry bag with a large tip. Or, snip the tip off the corner of a zip top bag and scoop the meringue into it. Pipe the meringue into tall ghost shapes on the parchment lined baking sheet.
Step 4: Bake the meringues for about 2 hours, then turn off the oven and let them stay in the oven overnight. Once they are cooled use mini chocolate chips to make small eyes. Serve.
