Lindsay Lohan continues her battle with addiction in the public eye.

After Lindsay failed two drug tests last week, she was sent back to jail on Friday – only to be later released on $30,000 bail.  She's owning up to her struggle, but despite her estrangement from her father, Michael Lohan, he continues to talk to the press about her issues.  After failing her drug tests Lindsay shared this on her Twitter page: "Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day. This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences. I am so thankful for the support of my fans, loved ones and immediate family, who understand that i am trying hard but also that I am a work in progress, just as anyone else."

Lindsay has said in the past that she doesn't speak to her father at all, yet he continues to pop up at every court hearing to hold press conferences about the state of her well-being.  He first reacted to her being remanded into jail custody on Friday afternoon, saying this: "She has not gotten the help with her addiction yet. They are destroying my daughter's life, it is a horrible situation."  He then ran to the media again after her release claiming that God was the reason behind it all: "What most don't know is that her release wasn't due to the efforts of any one person. She was released because that's what God wanted.  I truly believe that God wanted to show Lindsay that Shawn Holley, Lou Taylor and Dina (her mother), failed her." He even added yet another excuse for Lindsay's addiction problem: "Dina and I caused this (by divorcing) and it's our job to fix it."

We keep things as positive as possible here on Momtastic, but I just have to say that I don't think running to the media to talk about your child's private issues is the way to help her get better! Michael's heart may be in the right place, but maybe he should work on repairing the relationship with his daughter (and worrying about his own on-going legal issues) instead of causing more harm!  I hope Lindsay gets the help she needs and surrounds herself with positive people. Addiction is a lifelong battle and I wish her the strength she needs to get through.
