Katherine Heigl is an actress, animal rights activist, and mom. And, 2015 has been a big year for her already: She wrapped the first season of her latest TV drama, “State of Affairs,” as well as starring roles in the independent feature films Your Right Mind, opposite Ben Barnes, and Jenny’s Wedding, with Alexis Bledel and Tom Wilkinson. Previously, she portrayed Dr. Isobel “Izzie” Stevens for six seasons on “Grey’s Anatomy” and she co-starred on the WB sci-fi drama series “Roswell.” Heigl has starred in hit movies as well, including Knocked Up, 27 Dresses, and The Ugly Truth (which she executive produced), and she’s appeared in The Big Wedding, New Year’s Eve, Life as We Know It, Killers, The Ringer, King of the Hill, and My Father the Hero.

In addition to being an Emmy-winning actress, Katherine is an animal rights activist. In 2009, she and her mother, Nancy, launched the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation in honor of her late older brother. The Heigls are using their resources to work directly to address the pet population crises in Los Angeles and across the country. The foundation also funds pet education programs, actively supports spay/neuter programs, pet adoption programs, and funds and supports small dog transport from local kill shelters to both no-kill shelters and rescues facilities throughout the country.

Katherine lives in Utah with her husband Josh Kelley, and their two daughters, Nancy Leigh Kelley and Adalaide Marie Hope Kelley.
