When I was pregnant with my first, the advice started pouring in and it was absolutely dizzying. What I should do, what I shouldn’t do, things to do sparingly, things to do with abandon…it was hard to keep it all straight, but I wanted to do right by my son, so I diligently did the research to make sure I was staying on the safe side.
Before I got pregnant, I kept up a pretty typical beauty regimen—but knew that I’d have to scale back a bit during my pregnancy. What to scale back on though, was tougher to find out. Learning that I had to avoid some not-so-obvious products, like natural toothpastes and mouthwashes, came as a shock to me.

NOTE: It’s important to consult with your OB-GYN if you have concerns about any of the products or services you currently use.
