With the weather getting hotter and hotter each day, many of us are drinking more and more water to stay hydrated and keep cool. And with the Fourth of July right around the corner, I thought I would make some red white and blue ice cubes to add to summer drinks.
This is a quick and easy DIY (only takes a few minutes to make a whole tray) that you can make with your kids all summer long, but it's especially perfect for July Fourth because of the patriotic color scheme. Bonus! It is also a great way to get kids eating fruits and drinking more water.
Step 1: Wash blueberries and raspberries well. Get your pomegranate arils ready as well.
Step 2: Next, add several blueberries, raspberries, and pomegranate seeds to each ice cube section. If you have a long ice cube tray, like the black one shown, create a striped pattern with blueberries and pomegranate seeds, as shown, to create a patriotic pattern.
Step 3: Pour water into each cube well, covering the fruit.
Step 4: Set trays in the freezer and allow the water to freeze.
