Fall Apple Recipes for Baby and Toddlers

I love to use the slicer when I am making apple pies, oatmeal with apples, applesauce and baked apples too. I slice the apples and then I peel the skin back. To make the baked apples pictured above, I used the apple slicer, peeled the skin and then tossed the slices into a baking dish. Easy peasy! The result was tender and juicy baked apple slices that could be mashed, chopped into smaller bits and pieces or even pureed; how you prepare and eat the baked apples, or serve to your baby or toddler, is entirely up to you.

Dolloped Baked Apples with Golden Flax

Ingredients:

  • apples (Fuji, Macintosh, Braeburn or Red Delicious)
  • plain whole milk yogurt
  • golden flax meal
  • spices as desired (I used cinnamon and ginger)

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 F degrees.

Step 2: Slice, core and peel the apples.

Step 3: Arrange in a baking dish.

Step 4: Sprinkle on spices and stir to combine.

Step 5: Cover baking dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes.

Step 6: Check progress and continue baking as you wish; bake longer for more soft and tender apples.

Note: The longer you let the apples bake, the more juicy they will become however you will also run the risk of reducing the apples to applesauce.

Once baked to your preference, allow to cool and then serve with a dollop of yogurt and a sprinkle of flax meal; puree, dice or chop down for your baby as needed.

Apples may be frozen separately.
