Fun Fall Smoothies

Fall is in the air, and we’re loving the changing of the leaves around these parts. The colors truly are a work of art.

We were inspired by the changing of the seasons and the Thanksgiving holiday, and decided we wanted a healthy, organic, festive treat that would make celebrating even more fun with everyone.

So we put our heads together and came up with the idea to create some smoothies after one of our favorite candy patterns: candy corn.

We decided a layered pattern would be fun to drink up all that yummy goodness. Then we remembered it’s still 80 something degrees around here about every other day, and we better find something to put them in to keep them cool for a while.

tervis_cupsSo, we broke out the Entertaining Collection from Tervis. We’d been big fans of the original Tervis products for years, but these little gems gave us a great reason to clear out that cabinet and make room for these functional and oh-so-fun cups.

These guys keep drinks cold to prevent watered down ickiness. {In other words, they’re great for slow sippers who don’t like their smoothies warm.}

To make our smoothies, we decided to layer up. The bottom would be vanilla, the middle an orange and the top, banana.

Three simple choices that we all love. So here’s what you’ll need:

smoothie_ingredients

• Frozen vanilla yogurt • organic banana’s • Organic Oranges • Organic mandarin oranges • ice • Orange Juice • milk • vanilla extract • lemon juice (this will make about 5 smoothies)

To make the Vanilla smoothie, blend together 1/2 quart of vanilla frozen yogurt 1/2 TBSP of vanilla extract, 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of ice. You might want to adjust your milk and ice according to the consistency you like.

To make the orange smoothie, peel your oranges and mandarin oranges. Then blend them with 1/2 cup orange juice, 1 cup of ice and a couple scoops of frozen yogurt. (Adjust liquids and ice for the consistency you like.)

To make the banana smoothie, peel your 2 bananas. Blend them together with 1/2 quart of frozen yogurt, 1/2 TBSP of vanilla extract, 1/4 TBPS of lemon juice and 1 cup ice. (Adjust liquids and ice for the consistency you like.)

Then we poured the Vanilla smoothie into the bottom of the Tervis, the Orange smoothie on top of that and finally, the Banana smoothie.

Super yum!

These cups are our new go to for parties. No more watered down anything. The little red disposable cups… {the typical party choice never really keep drinks cold-and they always get all sweaty when you’ve held on to them for a while.} The Tervis option is our favorite and we love being able to individualize get togethers with the variety of colors and sizes. They’re dishwasher safe and have a Made for LifeTM guarantee, so that makes it totally doable.

One thing we really love is that these cups have a heavier feel like a real glass, but are super durable in case a they get dropped. Bonus for families… and all things holidaisical parties.
