The Best Waffle Recipe

Is preparing a special breakfast part of your family's back to school tradition? Give the kids a comforting, delicious breakfast (you can whip up in under 30 minutes!) before packing them up and sending them off to a fabulous school day. Try these absolutely perfect waffles.


  • 1 cup homemade waffle mix
  • cooking spray
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup whole milk (alternatively, you can use 2% milk)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • fruit (optional)
  • butter (optional)
  • maple syrup (optional)

Special Equipment:

  • waffle iron


Step 1: Preheat your waffle maker.

Step 2: Mix all ingredients in a big bowl with a whisk. Store in an airtight container (for up to 4 days in the refrigerator) until ready to use.

Step 3: Rub the waffle maker with a little bit of butter or cooking spray. Ladle about one cup of the mixture into the preheated waffle maker and cook the waffles for about 2 to 3 minutes, or until they are golden brown.

Step 4 (optional): Serve waffles alongside butter, syrup, and fruit.
