I love a sweet cup of Chai Tea. It's warming, comforting, and delicious! I created this non-tea version for my kids and it has been a lovely treat during this rainy winter season!
A traditional Chai is typically a combination of black tea with five or more Indian spices added. (My favorite Chai spice blend is equal parts of cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and black pepper.)
Total Prep and Cooking Time: less than 5 minutes
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of ground cloves
- Pinch of ground nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 1 cup milk
Combine the spices with the sugar in a small sauce pan. Whisk in about 1/4 cup of the milk and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and add the remaining milk. Let it simmer for about 1 minute.
Some additional notes:
If you want, you can pour the Hot Spiced Milk through a tiny strainer for a smoother drink.
