Video: Baby Is a Favorite Among Locals During First Japan Trip

A 4-month-old baby named Gigi’s first family trip to Japan has captivated users in a viral parenting video. The video showed Japanese locals adoring the baby wherever she went. From fellow travelers to restaurant staff, Japan’s warm atmosphere made Gigi a star. They eagerly held her and casually walked around with her as if she were a part of their family.

Baby is everyone’s ‘star’ during first Japan trip with family

A prominent Instagram user, @maggie.boynton, shared the viral video from their first trip to Japan, sharing her unique parenting moment. Traveling with a baby can be unpredictable and stressful due to the unanticipated nature of the locals. Nevertheless, Japan’s profound love for children was palpable in the way they treated Gigi.

The clip showed various locals — old and young — carrying Gigi and showering her with love. While encircling the baby, they expressed joy, surprise, warmth, and love for Gigi. The affectionate folks took Gigi in their arms, no matter where the family went, and treated her as their own. Bonding with the four-month-old in places like restaurants and on the ferry, strangers gave Gigi and her family an experience that was one of a kind.

Gigi’s mother summed up the experience in the video’s caption, writing, “Gigi was a star everywhere we went hahaha.” She further reflected on the locals, “I heard someone say, ‘Japanese people have the most beautiful hearts,’” affirming, “it is nothing but the truth.” Watching strangers treating her daughter with pure love, the mother’s caption showed her first trip to Japan with the infant was unique and joyful.

The viral video encapsulated Japan’s philosophy of “it takes a village to raise a child. Users took to the comments, confirming “Japan loves children,” and sharing their stories with the locals. One user jested, “Everyone is an auntie and uncle now.” Another wrote they loved the culture for being “So family oriented and so wholesome.” Unlike cultures where parenting is an individual responsibility, the Japanese locals treated Gigi like a “star,” breaking racial and cultural barriers.
