Vertical Gardening for Small Spaces

I’ve always enjoyed having a garden, and not just because it’s fun to dig around in the dirt, but because it’s also visually appealing and allows me to always have fresh herbs on hand to snip off for cooking. Or if I want to have something fresh to put in a vase for my home, I can pluck off a sprig of fresh lavender to put in a bud vase.

So if you live in a small space, with limited room for a garden, consider the idea of vertical gardening and check out these 3 clever space saving gardening accessories and ideas to help get you started.

This cleverly designed hanging bag planter makes it super easy to grow herbs or small flowering plants almost anywhere you have some wall space that gets a little sunshine. Plus, it also visually breaks up any unsightly wall space with a lovely burst of fresh greenery, so it’s multifunctional too.

Heres another great way to take advantage of limited gardening space, by doing a little bit of vertical container gardening by using these gorgeously rustic wooden plant stands if you have limited floor space on your patio or terrace. This image shows two stands, stacked one on top of the other. So its up to you whether you use one or two of these stands, depending on how much vertical space you have available and how many pots you want to accommodate.

Check out the clever hydroponic design behind this amazing vertically designed Tower Garden that my girlfriend, Donna, discovered while attending a Home Show and was kind enough to share with me. The image on the left is the one she took right after they delivered and set hers up on her rooftop deck. And the image on the right shows what it can look like afterwards. This plant tower has been specifically designed to grow plants utlitlzing the principles of hydroponic gardening, which employ growing plants in nutrients, rather than soils.  So don’t be discouraged if you only have a small space for creating a garden. If you take advantage of some of these vertical gardening innovations, the possiblities for what you can grow are almost limitless.
