Votive Candle Holders recalled due to Fire and Laceration Hazards

On July 5th, 2011, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Dollar Tree Stores, announced a voluntary recall of their glass votive candle holders due to fire and laceration hazards.

What do you need to know about this recall?

The glass votive candle holders can shatter while in use, posing a fire and laceration hazard to consumers. As of July 5th, 2011, the company has received one report of the glass votive candle holder shattering, but no injuries have been reported yet as of this date.

This recall involves frosted or clear glass votive candle holders with French vanilla scented candles. The votive candle holders are 2 1/2 inches tall. Model number 976127 and date code 1010 are printed on the bottom of the glass votive candle holder and approximately 117,000 of these products have been sold and/or distributed at Dollar Tree, Dollar Bill$, Deal$ and Dollar Tree Deal$ stores nationwide from December 2010 through April 2011 for about $1 and they were manufactured in India.

What should you do if you own any of these products?

Consumers should immediately stop using the candle holders and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
