The One Post-Pregnancy Dress You Can’t Live Without

After baby–especially after baby number two—women with petite frames and short torsos can sometimes find it difficult to hide that lingering baby weight.

Take me, for example. My first son was a whopping 10 lbs 10 oz, my second was 9 lbs 6 oz and I’m only 5′ 2″—yes I looked pregnant at week four!

Having discussed this ‘torso topic’ many times with women my height, I’ve come to the realization that it’s just a little harder for petites to shake that baby muffin top and disguise that lingering midsection weight.

I have just 10 pounds left to loose from my second pregnancy—but it’s the dreaded last 10! In the meantime, I resort to clever self-styling to banish the belly! Case in point–meet the one post-pregnancy dress you can’t live without—The Printed Silk Shift Dress

Why It’s Good.  A pure silk shift highlights a petite frame without hugging at the belly—just the right curves. The print will also help distract from any tummy issues.

How To Wear it.  Consider wearing it belted—or not, like I did here. Pair with bare legs and strappy heels, or transition into fall with tights and boots. Wear alone or accessorize with a cardi or blazer. Let the print do the talking–keep jewelry simple and make a statement with a bold purse.

Make Her Your New Best Friend.  Score dresses like these at TJMaxx (like I did) and think about getting a similar version in a solid color. The silk shift is perfect for a date night, the office, or any formal affair. Added Bonus: The length of this dress will also fall at the top of the knee—perfect for most petites.

What I wore.  Dress: DVF, TJ Maxx / Shoes: Napoleoni Italy, TJ Maxx / Gold Bracelets: Henri Bendel / Gold and Black Ring: CC Skye / Bag: Francesca’s / Shades: Burberry
