Mom’s Snack Hack Will Prevent Your Kids From Asking For Snacks All Day Long

After asking what you are making for dinner, the second-most asked question kids ask parents when they are home is if they can have a snack. And now that schools are closed indefinitely, it seems like the kids are raiding the kitchen on a near-constant basis. In fact, there are tons of memes circulating about how families have plowed through their quarantine snacks in a matter of hours. Funny – but not so funny at the same time.

One mom created a genius snack hack that just may help you limit all that noshing while making your kids more aware of just how much they’re eating.

Jennifer Hallstrom is the mother of three kids who has also been dealing with the constant snack requests. So she devised an easy-to-implement solution and shared it on her Facebook feed.

“Each child has their own colored basket,” she wrote alongside a photo of her kitchen counter bin setup. “In the morning, I put their snacks in it for the day, and when those snacks are gone, they don’t get any more. It makes them stop and think, ‘Do I really need a snack?'”

Brilliant!

Needless to say, the post went viral, because who can’t relate to their kids wanting to snack all day long?

Hallstrom also added that “I also put their cup for the day in there because I’m not washing 50 cups a day! Hahaha!” We totally feel you, Jennifer!

And while some commenters worried that this would leave their kids hungry, Jennifer insisted her three children are “well fed.” And in these uncertain times, when it’s safest to avoid repeated runs to the grocery store, it should even keep families’ inventories in check. She added: “I just don’t have the luxury of spending $400 on just snacks for a week.”

Yup.
