Jennifer Lawrence Lands The Role Of Katniss In “The Hunger Games” Movie

It is official: Jennifer Lawrence has landed the role of Katniss Everdeen in the movie adaptation of the popular book series “The Hunger Games”.

Casting rumors for this highly anticipated movie have been going wild for months now and many young actresses were in the running for this coveted role, but Lionsgate made their final decision this week announcing Jennifer as the lead.

Author Suzanne Collins shared her excitement in the official press release: “Jennifer’s just an incredible actress.  So powerful, vulnerable, beautiful, unforgiving and brave.  I never thought we’d find somebody this perfect for the role.  And I can’t wait for everyone to see her play it.”

The roles of Peeta and Gale have yet to be announced, but rumor has it that Hunter Parish and Alex Pettyfer are ranking high up on the list to play Peeta.

Have you and/or your kids read the books? Who would your top picks be to play these characters?  The fans of the series are as passionate as the “Twilight” fans, so it’ll be interesting to hear the reactions to this news.  I remember when thousands upon thousands of “Twilight” fans petitioned to have Robert Pattinson replaced as Edward because they were so upset over his casting – and now they love him to pieces.  So, hopefully Hunger Games fans will just trust that the powers-that-be will pick the perfect cast for the films!
