Theatrical Releases 1/14/11

1. The Green Hornet (PG-13)

Starring Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz, and Jay Chou.

"Following the death of his father, Britt Reid, heir to his father's large company, teams up with his late dad's assistant Kato to become a masked crime fighting team."

2. The Dilemma (PG-13)

Starring Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Winona Ryder, and Jennifer Connelly.

"A man (Vince Vaughn) discovers that his best friend's wife (Winona Ryder) is having an affair – comedic hijinks ensue."

3. Barney's Version (R)

Starring Paul Giamatti, Dustin Hoffman, Rachelle Lefevre, and Minnie Driver. 

"Touching story of the politically incorrect, fully lived life of the impulsive, irascible and fearlessly blunt Barney Panofsky."

New on DVD and BLU-RAY this week (1/11/11):

1. The Social Network (PG-13) (aka "The Facebook Movie")

Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake.

The story of the founding of Facebook, based on the book "The Accidental Billionaires".

*If you prefer to buy your movies instead of renting, I saw this one at Wal-Mart for only $12.99.

2. Alpha and Omega (PG)

Animated film featuring the voices of Justin Long and Hayden Panettiere. 

"When Kate, a take-charge “Alpha” wolf, and Humphrey, a laid-back “Omega” wolf, get snatched by park rangers and relocated halfway across the country, the two must set off on an incredible journey home!"

3. Piranha (R)

Starring Jerry O'Connell, Eli Roth, Elisabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, and Richard Dreyfuss.

"After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area's new razor-toothed residents."


My "don't waste your money" advice for the weekend: 'Season of the Witch'.  We saw it last weekend – terrible special effects, cheesy dialogue. The best thing about it was Nicolas Cage's wig.
