I use my Crock Pot all the time for dinner. It is one of the appliances that makes you feel like your life is somewhat together, don’t you agree?
Placing some ingredients in the Crock Pot in the morning and then having it ready by dinnertime without so much as a second thought just makes sense for our busy schedule.
It was a definite light bulb moment when it occurred to me that if my Crock Pot can make my evenings so easy, what could it do for my mornings? With 4 kids, mornings are most hectic time of day. If I can find something to ease the stress right off the start of the day, that’s got to be good, right?
Enter Crock Pot oatmeal….a delicious option for breakfast that cooks up in your Crock Pot while you sleep! Yep, you basically just dump the ingredients in, go to bed, and when you wake you you’ll have a delicious, hot breakfast ready to serve. Using your Crock Pot for breakfast makes it a truly great way to start the day!
- 2 cups old-fashioned oats (Note: Not the quick cook/instant kind)
- 3 ½ cups water
- 2 cups milk
- 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 bananas, mashed
- 1 banana, sliced for garnish (optional)
Using non-stick cooking spray, thoroughly spray the bottom and sides of the Crockpot insert.
Add the old-fashioned oats, water, milk, cinnamon and brown sugar to the Crockpot. Mix well until all ingredients are well incorporated.
Cover and cook on the low setting for 8 hours.
Prior to serving, stir in the mashed bananas. Garnish with additional banana slices if desired.
