Trying not to be judgmental, let’s just say some may find it odd – jarring, even – that a hospital run by adherents of non-violence would be decorated with such violent imagery. Supposedly the content reflects the many ways birds suffer injuries and man oh man, there sure are a lotta ways!

Birds being mauled by cats, birds tangling with ceiling fans, birds being shot by hunters, birds tripped up in kite strings, birds duking er, beaking it out with other birds… there’s even a couple of non-bird battles displayed for some reason. Every vignette has one thing in common: bright red gouts of blood.

Kudos to Flickr member Peretz Partensky, who posted an 18-image album to the popular photo-sharing site in April of 2011 after a visit to the Jain Charity Birds Hospital. He didn’t state where he went for dinner the night of his visit but we’d guess it probably wasn’t Chick-fil-A.
