Watermelon Ham… It’s Kosher!
The internet-savvy among them will stay for an extremely exotic main course, however, since word of the Watermelon Ham exploded virally online. Credit Instagrammer ogbubbakushdabs and YouTubers the Brunch Boys for launching Watermelon Ham into our flabbergasted cyber-consciousness. So Watermelon Ham is a thing… and we have Will Horowitz to thank (or blame) for it. Horowitz is the Executive Chef at and co-owner (with his sister, Julie) of Duck’s Eatery.
While eclectic dishes such as “Thrice Smoked Lamb Sausage Corn Dog” and Shrimp Ceviche served in a sealed Mason jar have been known to raise eyebrows as much as they delight palates, his unique Watermelon Ham has really got the food-o-sphere (can we say that?) buzzing. The concept itself may be rooted in Horowitz’s personal connections with Buddhism and time spent living on a small island of the coast of Myanmar, where he “was mainly meditating and cooking a lot, living very sustainably fishing and hunting and gathering.”
