Mind you, not every pet finds IKEA’s DUKTIG doll bed perfectly sized but most pets – especially cats – have a certain way of conforming their bodies to fit the offered space. Take Titina, a hefty 9kg (20 pounds!) tabby whose caring owner bought a DUKTIG doll bed at an IKEA store in Italy. Paola, Titina’s owner, hand-sewed some custom sheets and linens to give her options when wash time comes around. Still don’t think IKEA’s DUKTIG doll bed and pets aren’t made for each other, regardless of IKEA’s best intentions? Note first that pets have tails; note secondly that the DUKTIG doll bed features openwork head- and foot-boards that allow free passage for wayward tails.
According to IKEA’s product page, the DUKTIG doll bed’s key feature is that it “encourages role play”. What sort of role do you think the cozy couple above are playing as they relax away the afternoon? (images via Patty)
