Want to get a look at the United Kingdom from a new perspective? Enjoy all the comforts of a spacious hotel suite, but on the go – in a converted, bright green double-decker bus. A 1982 West Midlands metro bus was gutted and transformed to sleep six guests comfortably, and it even has a full-sized kitchen, a bathroom and a cozy wood stove in the lounge area.
Carpenter Adam Collier-Woods purchased a used double decker bus on eBay for about $7,400, spending another $16,000 on renovations. While the resulting cozy space is rented out to anyone who’d like to experience sleeping in a converted bus, it would also make for a very inexpensive permanent residence.
The interior is fitted with wood floors, cabinets, appliances and comfy furnishings and took about six months to complete. The double-height space enables two enclosed double bedrooms. The top front of the bus is a ‘chill out space’ with windows on all sides for taking in the view.
It’s currently nestled into a deck with a fire pit overlooking a pond in the Sussex countryside near the city of Brighton. Be sure to check out lots more converted buses, house trucks and other rolling homes.
