We all hate it when a delivery van stops on the side of a busy street, creating a bottleneck for 5, 10 or 15 minutes. Imagine how drivers in the northeastern Chinese city of Jinan feel about the abandoned van above. Some estimates figure the rust and grime-streaked vehicle has maintained its position for many months, based on the time required for flowering vines to climb up, over and across the van’s roof.

Kudzu may be “the plant that ate the South”, one car at a time, but blackberry vines aren’t far behind… and they have plenty of thorns to help guard the precious goods they’ve engulfed. On the bright side, the owner seems rather unconcerned at the loss of a mid-1960s Volkswagen.
