If you’re trying to conceive a baby, you should know about implantation symptoms. See, when I was trying to conceive, that two-week wait between ovulation and my missed period was absolutely torturous. I was desperate to find out if I was pregnant, and paid attention to every teeny-tiny change in my body. In fact, some women actually experience symptoms around the time of implantation, as early as 10 days after ovulation, that are the first clues of pregnancy. Could you be experiencing signs of implantation? Check out this list of implantation symptoms to find out.

1. Implantation Bleeding
One of the most obvious signs of implantation is light spotting known as implantation bleeding. Unlike a menstrual period though, it’s usually a pink or brownish discharge, rather than red blood with clots. About 1/3 of women get this very early pregnancy symptom, according to the American Pregnancy Association.

2. Implantation cramping
When the fertilized egg implants in the uterus, it breaks blood vessels in the lining, which causes the bleeding. While the embryo is too small for you to actually feel this disruption, some women report light cramping, known as implantation cramping, which may be a secondary symptom of the pregnancy itself.

3. Headaches
Once the cells start to divide and the embryo implants, your hormones start to surge. This sudden and extreme rise in levels can lead to headaches in some women.

4. Mood swings
It’s not uncommon to get all the feels around the time of implantation in early pregnancy. Again, it’s the hormone boost messing with your emotions. But, as any TTC woman will tell you, the stress and anxiety that comes with trying to get pregnant certainly doesn’t help. You’re likely to experience a whole range of feelings — from worry to joy to sadness — as you wait to finally find out if you’re pregnant for sure.
