Film Critic Rex Reed Attacks Melissa McCarthy’s Physical Appearance In ‘Identity Thief’ Review

It’s safe to say that movie critic Rex Reed didn’t care for Melissa McCarthy’s new comedy “Identity Thief” and it also seems safe to say that Rex Reed has some issues with women who aren’t a size two.

The Observer posted Rex’s latest film review this week and he doesn’t hold back – he hated the movie. That’s fair, it’s his job to be honest, but after reading it, he’s downright cruel and vicious toward the movie’s star, funny gal Melissa McCarthy.  Rex lashes out several times throughout the piece about the actress’s size, even referring to her as tractor-sized!  The first example “….whose credit card has been hacked and copied by a felonious thief in Miami (cacophonous, tractor-sized Melissa McCarthy).”  He later calls McCarthy, a “gimmick comedian who has devoted her short career to being obese and obnoxious with equal success.”  Reed maybe doesn’t realize Melissa has been around for more than a decade and has proven her talent over and over again.

Take a peek at his review and share in the comments – did he go too far with the attacks on her physical appearance? Will his diatribe keep you from seeing this movie?
