If you're hosting a party, this recipe for homemade apple cider is perfect to leave simmering on the stove; it makes your house smell comfy-cozy for the holidays!

Servings: 8-10 cups (approximately ½ gallon)
Ingredients:
- apples (assortment): 10
- large orange: 1
- brown sugar: ½ cup
- cinnamon sticks: 5
- whole cloves: 1 tablespoon
- whole allspice: 1 tablespoon
- filtered water
Directions:
Step 1: Wash apples and orange thoroughly.
Step 2: Cut apples and orange into quarters (no need to remove peels, stems or seeds)
Step 3: Transfer quartered fruit to a large pot. Sprinkle sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and allspice over fruit.
Step 4: Cover with water and bring to boil. Keep pot uncovered for about 1 hour.
Step 5: After 1 hour, reduce to a simmer and cover with lid. Cook covered for 1 1/2 hours.
Step 6: Remove lid, and mash fruit with potato-masher. Cook for an additional 30 minutes, or until liquid is thick and spicy.
Step 7: Strain fruit pulp and spices, serve warm.
