Most of our focus on Momtastic is about moms, because let’s face it, although everyone gives lip-service to how important moms are, in day-to-day life, Moms tend to be the overlooked heroes. Yet even celebrity mothers need the support of a partner, so let’s talk about some of our favorite celebrity parents.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt top everybody’s list. Consider all they do:

  • they’re widely regarded as the most beautiful couple in the world,
  • they’ve not only had three biological children but also adopted three children from around the world, making themselves the ultimate Modern Family, and
  • they live a glamorous life, traveling the world, making movies, and oh yeah, doing a little bit of humanitarian work here and there.

Talk about having it all!

While Angelina and Brad may be known for their glamour, large brood, and large-scale humanitarian efforts, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are popular for the opposite reason: while they may also be a famous celebrity couple, they are also incredibly down-to-earth. Look at the picture above: couldn’t this be any family on a given Saturday morning? They’ve thrown on some clothes, gotten Violet dressed, and run out for their morning Starbucks. They could be US, and we love them for it.

Former Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl and singer Josh Kelley are an inspiring pair of celebrity parents. They haven’t been married for very long, and Katherine’s career is skyrocketing on the big screen, yet they still found time to adopt a special-needs child, Naleigh. Katherine even took maternity leave from Grey’s Anatomy (in between shooting movies) so she could spend more time with her new baby. How amazing is that?

I have to admit, when I first heard that reality TV personality Nicole Richie and rocker Joel Madden were expecting, I was worried. Very worried. Remember, this was back when Nicole was still primarily known as Paris Hilton’s side-kick, suffered from the alarming weight loss, and was dealing with DUI problems. But motherhood forced Nicole to do a 180. Now she’s a doting mom, stable with Joel (and they’re even engaged), and a respected fashion designer who is developing her own TV show with ABC. What a fantastic turn-around. Nicole is a living example of the fact that motherhood isn’t only about giving as a parent; you can get just as much back from it.
