Cool Off This Summer with DIY Peacock Paper Fans

Some summer days, it’s just too hot to go outside (especially if you live in Florida like my family does). Even inside it can get hot. In the afternoon, I’d like to sip on a cool glass of lemonade and fan myself until it’s time to pick my son up from summer camp. (I can daydream, can’t I?) It’s just too hot to do anything else.

I love these easy peacock paper fans I made out of card stock and clothespins. I didn’t even use brushes; finger painting all the way. I told you it’s been a lazy summer.

Supplies:

  • Paint (acrylic, finger paint, or whatever you have)
  • Card stock
  • Clothespins
  • Paper plate
  • Embroidery string
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Instructions:

Step 1: Finger paint on two sheets of white card stock. I decided to use my thumbprint for the design. Let dry.

Step 2: While your painting is drying, cut the peacock shapes from the card stock.

Step 3: Glue the shapes (beak, wings, eyes, hair) onto the peacock body.
