Use Nail Polish to Craft a Simple Beaded Necklace in Minutes

Long Painted Necklace DIY

I am a big fan of long necklaces. They work with almost any outfit and generally give an outfit a cool/relaxed vibe. So, I thought I would make my own, and I’m showing you how to make one too.

This is a great DIY to try with older kids too (with supervision of course, since you’ll be using nail polish).

Step 1: To get started, pick out the beads you’d like to use. Then, apply gesso with a paintbrush to any wood beads that you want to paint a solid color. Allow the gesso to dry completely before moving on to step two.

Step 2: Now you’re ready to start adding color. Use the wood skewers to help hold the beads and paint the gessoed bead with nail polish.

Step 3: You can also try out patterns with the other beads, such as brush strokes, diamonds, and stripes. The brush strokes can be done in any pattern that you like.

Step 4: The diamond shape was painted onto a faceted bead, so I was able to follow the lines of the facets on the bead.

Step 5: For the striped bead, use the washi or painter’s tape to mask off the stripe. Paint the exposed strip. After one minute, before the paint has fully dried, carefully peel the tape off.
