Wood Chopper: Banatti’s Bamboo-Bodied Motorcycle

Christopher Lacson is already looking past the Green Falcon, stating that two-wheeled bamboo vehicles will naturally lead the way for a future line of bamboo-constructed four-wheeled vehicles. “More important to the context of very necessary green transportation solutions for our country, the Green Falcon is a scaled-down version of what my business partner Leo Dominguez calls ‘our business card for what we want to do next, The Modern Jeepney.’” As jeepneys are bus-like public utility vehicles found almost everywhere in the Philippines, Banatti is setting a very high bar.

Can you buy a Green Falcon yet. Not quite – the prototype bamboo-bodied motorcycle was displayed at the 2017 Manila Fame Show and garnered much interest from both show visitors and industry professionals. It’ll be back again for the 2018 show this coming October. If demand materializes, Banatti intends to hand-build a limited edition of 111 units priced at approximately $21,500 each.
