The large variety of available “scenes” means every tiled space is unique – the perfectly square tiles can be arranged in any combination to suit the installer’s taste. Gyva Grafika initially released Urban Soviet Stickers as, essentially, adhesive photographs. Further experimentation with direct printing onto blank tiles has been successful, so now potential buyers have the option of stickers or printed tiles.

There are 24 different stickers in the full set, of which 19 depict single windows of an average East Bloc apartment high-rise. Also included are an air vent, a basketball net, a short clothes line, and a couple of blanks. Gyva Grafika offers the stickers/tiles individually (they’re listed by number at their online shop) and in packs of 9, 18 or 48.

“A classic look of local facades were chosen,” states Gyva Grafika. “Photos were taken in a local neighborhood and transformed into blocks. For different cultures and history experiences, people will look at this project differently, but for us it is our usual facades that we grew up with. These buildings were built during the Soviet Occupation (of Lithuania) and are becoming extinct with the EU-sponsored renovation projects, but we still have proper time to say goodbye. Not to neglect, but just to accept all, and move forward to a better and more optimistic tomorrow.” For more information, visit Gyva Grafika online or at their Facebook.
