The Salamander concept comes to us from Philippines-based H2O Technologies, a company whose president was inspired by the devastating effect of flooding in his homeland. While most owners of ordinary vehicles “may simply be waiting for floodwaters to subside,” explains David Ong, Chairman of the Board for H2O Technologies, “the Salamander would be perfect to allow workers to get back to their normal modes of transportation and make their way back to work.” They’ll arrive with their feet dry as well, thanks to the Salamander’s robust ABS plastic double-hull supported by a modular steel frame.

The Salamander can carry up to five passengers plus a driver/operator when in terrestrial mode and up to three passengers plus driver/operator when switched to marine mode. According to H2O Technologies, the Salamander boasts a top speed of 80 km/h (about 50 mph) on land and it can “sail” at up to 6 knots on water. Propulsive power for marine mode is via a motorboat-style propeller mounted below the waterline in the rear.
