Dragon Emerges from the Hedges in 13-Year Gardening Project

A 150-foot-long dragon complete with flaring nostrils has taken shape in East Rudham, Norfolk from what was formerly a 'boring hedge.' 75-year-old John Brooker spent the past 13 years coaxing the creature out of the natural fence planted alongside his farm cottage, putting three days of work into the project every two to three weeks.

"I was standing at my kitchen sink one day and thought the hedge was boring so decided to do something with it," he told the BBC. "I think the dragon came from my days i the Army. I did two tours in Malaysia so the dragon must have been in my subconscious."

He's gone through four electric hedge trimmers in the time it took to finish the dragon sculpture. It even has a flowing tail that extends to the back of the property.

The dragon is reminiscent of the stunning grassy sculptures of The Lost Gardens of Heligan in Mevagissey, UK. Check out more fantastical landscaping at 14 incredibly unique parks and botanical gardens.
