You might remember her best as Lara Croft from Tomb Raider or Mrs. Smith from Mr. & Mrs. Smith in which she first starred with Brad Pitt and their famous chemistry together first began. However, these days Angelina Jolie’s more important role is being a mom and role model to her six beautiful children, half of who are adopted and the other half biological. 

Angelina herself was born in Los Angeles, June 4th, 1975 and is the daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand who separated in 1976 shortly after Angelina was born.   Being the daughter of two actors, Angelina caught the “acting bug” early at age 11, so she enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Institute for two years and appeared in several stage productions with that group.
 
Always very thin and unique, believe it or not, Jolie suffered from self-esteem issues in her early teen years, but later emerged from that rough start and morphed into the stunningly beautiful and self-confident woman that we see today. She had a modest modeling career, which was followed up later by the beginnings of her acting career and breakthrough rise to stardom when she appeared as Cornelia Wallace, in the film George Wallace, a role for which she ultimately won a Golden Globe Award and the rest is history from there.
 
While her acting career may have first launched her as one of the most easily recognized faces in Hollywood and on the newsstands, she has become almost equally recognizable for her vast humanitarian endeavors, an interest in which ensued while first filming Tomb Raider in Cambodia in 2001. It was at that time that Angelina became aware of worldwide hunger issues and the existence of refugee camps worldwide, etc. and launched her campaign to help in whatever way she could.
 
Jolie had several marriages prior to Brad Pitt becoming her companion in 2005. Together, she and Pitt have built the beautiful family that we see traveling the globe together today in their many humanitarian efforts. These days, Jolie is probably one of the best known celebrities in the world and in 2008 she was the highest paid actress, in addition to often being referred to as one of the most beautiful women in the world, which is a fact that would be hard to argue.
 
However, aside from her life filled with fame and glamour, Angelina’s most important role these days is that of being a mother, along with spearheading her many humanitarian eandeavors worldwide.
