The current rage in fashion is looking like you rolled out of bed completely fabulous yet totally natural. Of course, if we all actually did that, we’d look a lot like I do on normal days, which is like I just got out of bed because I DID.

I’m going to go out on a limb and aim higher. I asked my amazing hairdresser, Jarr Von Samuel from Oro Salon, what to do in the AM when my hair’s kinda kinky, but I don’t have time to both shower AND do my hair. He told me that if you quickly twist your hair in four sections and hop in a hot shower, you can get easy beachy waves without going through an additional step of using an iron post-shower. It sounded too good to be true, so I made him prove it to me. So we partnered up to show you how to get easy, beachy waves with no heat tools. This is a great tutorial if you don’t have a lot of time in the morning (every mom I know). t’s super easy! Promise.

Step 1: Start with dry hair, preferably air dried.

Step 2: Run some product through your hair, all over. I am obsessed with R + Co’s Pomade Mousse, which is super light yet holds amazingly well, but any mousse or light hold product will work.

Step 3: Divide your hair into four quadrants. Divide it down the middle for the sides, and then imagine putting on a headband for the front and back. Here I’m showing you the front two.

Step 4: Starting with the quadrant nearest your face, grab your hair as it naturally falls. This is really important! You don’t want to pull it out from your head or you’ll get weird kinks. Instead, grab it how it naturally falls, and, keeping your elbow at your waist, start twisting it away from your face.

Step 5: Continue twisting hair until it twists itself into a bun. Secure with a clip.

Step 6: Continue with the other three sections of hair, always twisting away from your face and keeping your elbow at your waist.

Step 7: Take a hot shower and let the steam work its magic. (I recommend a long one for it to really work, so go ahead and shave your legs.) If you don’t have time to shower, you can also use a hair dryer with a diffuser attachment. Once you’ve finished showering (or using the heat diffuser) give your hair a couple of cold blasts from your hair dryer to set it.

Step 8: Take out the buns. At this point, it also helps to put on makeup because, turns out, that also makes you look a lot better.

Step 9: Gently run your fingers through your hair.

Step 10: I like to finish it off with Sachajuan’s Ocean Mist for a true beachy vibe, but you could also run some more pomade mousse through it or use any kind of finishing product.
