7 Million Tea Lights Recalled
On April 20th, 2011, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Pacific Trade International, Inc. announced a voluntary recall of over 7 million of their individual tea lights sold under the names of Chesapeake Bay Candle and Modern Light due to a potential fire hazard.
What do you need to know about this recall?
The candles (tea lights) that were recalled have a clear, plastic cup that can melt or ignite, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. As of April 20th, 2011, Pacific Trade has received only one report of the plastic cup melting while in use. No injuries or property damage have been reported. What Should You Do if You Own Any of these Products?Consumers should immediately stop using the candles and return them to the store where purchased for a store merchandise card equal to the purchase price.
