The Craziest Celebrity Baby Names of 2015

I’m totally open to eccentric and unique baby names. I have to be. My son’s name is Balthazar and my daughter’s middle name is Plum. Though biblical and fruity, my kid’s names aren’t exactly conventional. But here’s the thing: We weren’t trying to be anything but authentic to ourselves and to our kids. We wanted names that would suit them and our family.

When it comes to Hollywood celebs, however, it seems that some go to great lengths to give their kids weird names. Sure, kids of creative parents are more likely to live in a world where eccentric names are commonplace, but even celebrity kids have to go to school and someday get jobs. It’s tough to take a kid seriously when he or she appears to be the bearer of a made up name. Case and point: This list of the craziest baby names of 2015…

1. Saint West

OK, so it’s really no surprise that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West named their son Saint, is it? I mean, their daughter’s name is North. At least one other person doesn’t think the name is weird though. Grandma Kris Jenner told E! News, “It’s such a beautiful name. I’m sorry I didn’t think of it actually. That was their idea!”

2. Elsie Otter Pechenik

Since “New Girl” cutie Zooey Deschanel is known for her “adorkable” style, it makes sense that she and husband Jacob Pechenik would give their daughter a wacky name. Zooey Deschanel told “Today”, We just really liked the name Elsie and then we both love otters — they’re very sweet and they’re also smart. They use tools … they hold hands while they sleep, there’s so many amazing things about otters. They’re wonderful animals.” All true, but…

3. Rocket Zot Worthington

Avatar star Sam Worthington and his model wife Lara Bingle Worthington say they came up with their son’s peculiar name out of respect to Lara’s father. After people make fun of the baby’s name on Twitter Lara tweeted: “This quote taken from a balderdash article in The Daily Telegraph Australia, April 4, 2015, is very embarrassing. My son’s middle name IS a respectful nod to my late father, whose nickname was affectionately, Zot.” That clears that up!

4. Blues Anthony Pare Kastner

Try saying that name 12 times! Although the name Blues may seem like an odd choice for the “Mad Men” beauty to name her son, it actually makes sense. Pare’s partner is the guitarist for All Systems Go! So clearly he likes the blues. (See a pic of Blues)

5. Sistine Sabella James

Kevin James and wife Steffiana de la Cruz were very familiar with the Hollywood baby name game when they had their fourth child this past year. With a big brother named Kannon, Sistene Sabella almost seems normal.

6. Qirin Love Howard

Though the “Empire” star and wife Mira Pak were already divorced by the time Qirin was born, Howard was no less ecstatic after her birth. Qirin Love’s name may seem like a mouthful but Howard thinks it’s just right. He tweeted, “A mythical 1/2 dragon 1/2 lion who glides above the land so as not to harm even a blade of grass… meet Qirin Love!”

7. Ariah Talea Housley

Though Tamra Mowry-Housley and husband Adam Housley’s second child’s name may seem strange, the “Sister, Sister” alum says the name is not weird at all. Tamra wrote on her personal website, “Ariah means Lion of God and Talea means one who resembles the morning dew of Heaven.” OK, then!

8. Alaska Cahan

When supermodel Anne V. and Yahoo! exec Adam Cahan named their daughter, they were inspired by an unlikely yet beautiful place. Anne told The New York Post she wants more children, so does that mean that Alaska’s sibs will be named California and Florida?

9. Jagger Snow Ross

When singer Ashlee Simpson and husband “Hunger Games” star Evan Ross named their baby, they drew inspiration from music and nature. Evan admits that he wants “as many kids as possible,” so we’re betting there are more eccentric names in this couple’s future. (See a pic of Jagger)

10. Rhodes Emilio Gilbert Perry

When “The Talk” co-host Sara Gilbert and partner Linda Perry — who is responsible for some of the biggest hits by Pink, Gwen Stefani, and Christina Aguilera — wanted to think of a name for their first child together, they went BIG…and, well, odd.

11. Rockwell Lloyd Liu

On August 27, “Elementary” star Lucy Liu surprised the world by announcing that she had become a mother to a little boy named Rockwell Lloyd via gestational carrier. Rockwell may sound like a last name to some, but it’s just right to Liu. She calls her son “the new little man in my life.” Aww. (See a pic of Rockwell)

12. Charlie Ocean Goldblum

The Independence Day star’s third wife, Emilie Livingston, gave birth to Goldblum’s first child on…Independence Day. Goldblum told David Letterman, “It’s a boy. We picked out a name, as a matter of fact. If it stays — this is our current thinking — [it’ll be] Elliott Charlie.” Clearly the couple thought Elliott Charlie wasn’t eccentric enough for Hollywood and lost the Elliott and added the Ocean.
